Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know well the plans I have in mind for your welfare, not for woe, plans to give you a future full of hope."
This is a blog for family and friends to follow the adventures of our marriage along the way including our ups and downs and the lessons we have learned. I hope to inspire other young Catholic couples to raise Catholic families.
No, it is not cereal but we are expecting our first bundle of joy. After suspecting we might be pregnant for a few weeks, we learned of our new bundle of joy on my birthday. What a birthday gift it was!!! We were overjoyed when we saw the EPT.
The best birthday gift
We are now 9 weeks and Special K (which is what we are calling him/her since we do not know the gender) is due on January 21, 2012. We do not really have preference except for a happy, healthy baby. Kris is thinking pink but I am thinking blue so one of us is right.
Say cheese! Baby at 8 weeks and 2 days.
Family photo
The next 7 1/2 months are going to mean BIG changes for us and we cannot wait for our little one to finally get here. We are slowly working on organizing the house to make room for baby. We do not know what lies ahead for us but each new experience fills our hearts with joy.
Dear Special K,
Mommy and Daddy love you so much already. We cannot wait to meet you. We are getting things ready for you here. We cannot wait for you to see what we have prepared for you. Stay safe. Grow big.
Holy Communion Mass
St. Margaret Mary, Winter Park, FL
Homily by Fr. Richard Walsh
Today we attended First Communion Mass for my nephew Dominic. The pastor, Fr. Walsh, gave an excellent homily. I wanted to video tape it but at Fr. Walsh's request I decided to just sit and listen. Now I wish I had a better view and continued to record. His homily was so inspiring not only to the kids making their First Communion today but also to some of the adults who were there. I can only try to retell what I remember from his Homily.
I found the video above to best retell the story that Fr. Walsh used in his Homily today. Various variations of the story can also be found online. The story involves famous pianist Ignacy Jan Paderewski. The part that touched me about his homily was not the story but how he related it to our faith and relationship with Jesus Christ.
In his homily, Fr. Walsh compared each of the Communicants to the little boy on stage. Each one goes up to receive Communion for the first time with very limited knowledge about faith but Jesus reaches around from the left and from the right to embrace them with his love to make them complete. The realization is that Jesus does not just do this for the little ones with little knowledge of the faith but for all of us. Some days we are weak and our faith is lacking. Jesus reaches around each one of us and makes us each complete. He reminds us that we cannot do this alone. We each only play one instrument while He plays the rest to make it sound like a symphony. Some days we are strong and he harmonizes as to complement our piece.
Jesus is the one who completes our faith. We trust that He has already begun a good work in us and with His help we can finish the task we are set out to do.
Outside my window... the sun has set and day has turned into night. It is a cool and cloudy night. There is a 30% chance of rain but there does not seem to be any in sight. Temperature is slowly rising. It looks like it is going to be another hot week ahead.
I am thinking... that tomorrow I will catch up on everything I have put off for the last week.
I am thankful for... the joys that marriage brings. The good and fun times always outweigh the bad and rough times. Both are necessary to help you appreciate the other.
From the kitchen... hubby was able to find a place for the extra mugs and dishes. They are not in their final spot but at least there seems to be a little less clutter. Now to finish the rest of the chores that still need to be done…
I am wearing... a fresh pair of pajamas as I get ready to wind down for the night and wait for hubby to come home.
I am creating… nothing now that my anniversary gift is done. I hope to get back to working on our scrapbook soon.
I am going... finish the last of my chores for the day and start to wind down for the night. It is going to be a LONG day tomorrow.
I am reading... the same book for the last 3 months. Financial Peace University is ending soon and I am still NOT done with Financial Peace Revisited. My books of interest seem to be growing. I added unPlanned by Abby Johnson. I have found inspiration from her story.
unPlanned by Abby Johnson with Cindy Lambert
I am hoping praying... for all the unborn babies.
I am hearing... Gracie meowing as she parades her favorite mouse around the house.
Around the house... my most dreaded chore awaits – ironing. I have put it off way too long and now all my hubby’s work shirts await ironing.
One of my favorite things... romantic piano music especially Jim Brickman.
Never Alone – Jim Brickman featuring Hillary Scott & Lady Antebellum
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Thursday: Post-seminar What Next? by Jim Wicksall
Friday/Saturday: St. Pete
Monday: Bonus lesson of FPU (The Great Misunderstanding)

The Simple Woman's Daybook is a brief outline for women/mothers who blog to use as a way to compose thoughts, plan the week, and keep a grateful heart. It is typically published once a week on Tuesdays.
When I read the traditional gift for the first anniversary, I started to think about what kind of gift I could get for my husband to celebrate our first anniversary. Paper? What kind of meaningful paper gift can I get? Although I can write a great romantic and sentimental card, I did not want to get JUST a card as our first anniversary gift. I wanted to get something that would chronicle our first year and would be cherished. But paper? So with some extra thought we both came up with a couple of great gifts that we can cherish for many years to come.
Kris' gift: Jim Brickman tickets
Kris' original gift idea was an annual pass to one of the major theme parks. We are so fortunate to live within a couple of hours of the best theme parks. This seemed to be a great idea at first until we realized how hot it really gets in Florida. A pass good until the end of the year would have been okay if we purchased it earlier in the year when we could have used it while the weather was still cool. As the temperatures get hotter and hotter, the likelihood of using the pass in the next couple months was not very likely.

Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall
The back of the hall faces the bay
He still wanted to get tickets but now we were considering a show either locally or nearby. We have a couple of performing arts halls and forums within a couple of hours. We even have a local theatre nearby. We found a couple of shows of interest including a Jim Brickman concert at the local theatre the Saturday before our anniversary.
We got dressed up and headed down to the local theatre on Saturday evening hoping that tickets were still available. Lucky for us, there were still tickets available for the show. It was a perfect anniversary gift. Jim Brickman talked about celebrating his 15 year anniversary as a recording artist and performer this past Christmas. He talked about how it was much like a wedding anniversary. His music was soft and romantic. It was simply a perfect night.

My gift: A Photo Journal
A photo journey of our the good times we have shared
After much thought, I finally decided on a photo journal for an anniversary gift. I knew it was not going to cost much money. I had all the materials (paper of course) in my scrapbooking supplies.I wanted it to make all from paper and by hand. I had some pictures from our first year of marriage as well as pictures from our early days of dating. I organized them into a small "album" which I made using black pages and a brown cover. I used letters and some stickers I had to decorate the album. I was a little worried that Kris would not find it sentimental but when I gave it to him and we looked at it together, he loved every picture and sharing the memories we have made together. We looked at it again while waiting for the concert to start. It was like taking a photo journey through our the last 10 years together. It was a great memory for both of us. He said a few times throughout the night how much he had loved the album and the memories contained in it. We have had fun just looking through it and remembering the good times we have shared.

The end of the album but not our journey
The back of the album
We had a perfect weekend celebrating our first anniversary. We were able to celebrate with some family and friends who had been with us on the day we were married. We went back to the Church where were married and said a prayer or two for the year ahead. We even visited the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe, one of our most favorite places. On the actual day of our anniversary, we went to Mass together and then enjoyed a nice quiet breakfast. It was the perfect way to end our anniversary weekend and celebrate.
I was captured the moment we met
Carried away with every word you said
It's a mystery how you got to me
I fell in the spell of your charms
With your siren's smile you caught me off guard
Just one glance took away my breath
Then you drew me in with your tenderness
You captivate my soul, I'm enraptured
You knocked me out and you locked me up
Stole my heart like a thief at love
Keep me here in your happy ever after
I'm captured
By the way just in case you care
I'm here to stay, I'm not going anywhere
I took a dive in your deep dark eyes
And I'm never coming up for air
I lost myself in this bond that we share
One sweet kiss took away my breath
Then you drew me in with your tenderness
You captivate my soul, I'm enraptured
You knocked me out and you locked me up
Stole my heart like a thief at love
Hold me tight in your happy ever after
Now you've got the best of me
No one else could hold the key
I'm captured
Just one touch took away my breath
When you drew me in I could not resist
You captivate my soul, I'm enraptured
You knocked me out and you locked me up
Stole my heart like a thief at love
Keep me here in your happy ever after
I'm captured
I first heard this song early 2009 on a sample wedding video from a classmate from high school. (Thank God for social networking allowing us to keep in touch even after almost 20 years after we graduated high school) I had never heard the song before but I was immediately captured by not only the catchy tune but the lyrics. It went so well with the sample wedding video. Even the words and footage seemed to match. It was a beautiful glimpse into their wedding.
When I was picking the songs for our wedding video, I immediately thought of this one. I contacted my old classmate and learned that the artist was Filipino. I was even more interested in using the song in our video. I knew it would be a good way to review the events of our big day. Watching the video from our wedding, I realize that this song fit perfectly into our video, too.
This song also says a lot about my dear husband. There is something so captivating about him. I am not sure what it is exactly. There is something about his eyes. There is something about his smile. There is something about his laugh. There is something about his hugs. There is something about his kiss. There is something about him that just gets me every time.
In the eleven months we have been married, I have found much encouragement and inspiration from other married couples that we know. Some have only been married just a few months longer than us while others have been married for many more years than us. I have even found inspiration from others who have been married a shorter time than us. I have learned it is not about how long you have been married but the experiences that you have lived that inspire others. Common experiences have helped us to know how to handle them when we come across them in our marriage. Similar experiences allowed us to compare and contrast in order to find out and learn what will work for us in those situations. Extraordinary experiences are the ones I have found the most inspiration. To see the love between husband and wife during these extraordinary experiences have inspired me to love more deeply and to cherish what we have.
The video and link above are a perfect example of one such experience. It brought tears to my eyes as I watched and listened to their story. I am inspired by the love that he had for his wife. He fought right along side her and kept loving her. When he had nothing else, he continued to pray for her recovery. And through that love and dedication she made an incredible miraculous recovery.
I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband who continues to love me and take care of me even through the extraordinary experiences. I am blessed that my husband chooses to stand beside me through anything that we face in our marriage. The depth of his love is so amazing and I could not be more proud to stand beside him as his wife.
To the one who holds the key to my heart, your love is extraordinary and I am inspired by your love.
Oh, her eyes, her eyes, make the stars look like they're not shining Her hair, her hair, falls perfectly without her trying She's so beautiful, and I tell her every day
Yeah, I know, I know, when I compliment her she won't believe me And it's so, it's so, sad to think that she don't see what I see But every time she asks me do I look ok, I say
When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change Cause you're amazing, just the way you are And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while Because girl you're amazing, just the way you are(yeah)
Her lips, her lips, I could kiss them all day if she let me Her laugh, her laugh, she hates but I think it's so sexy She's so beautiful, and I tell her every day
Oh, you know, you know, you know, I'd never ask you to change If perfect's what you're searching for then just stay the same So, don't even bother asking if you look ok You know I'll say
When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change Cause you're amazing, just the way you are And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while Because girl you're amazing, just the way you are The way you are, the way you are Girl you're amazing, just the way you are
When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change Cause you're amazing, just the way you are And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while Cause girl you're amazing, just the way you are. Yeah
When I hear this song, even though he is singing about a girl, I think of my husband. He is just simply amazing. I could describe him in the exact same way. I see and feel sparks shooting off when I kiss his lips. It makes me want to kiss him again and again. The two things I love most about him are his smile and his laugh. They are just absolutely contagious. When I see him smile, I just have to smile, too. His laugh makes me want to laugh right along with him even if I do not think it is funny. Even when I am mad and we are in the middle of a drag it out fight, I sometimes just want to laugh and smile. He just has that effect on me.
Oh my love, you are simply amazing just the way you are and I love you!
Outside my window... it appears to be very cloudy. We are expecting some showers but so far I have not seen any. I am welcoming spring and the nice cool weather. I am not looking forward to the heat and extreme temperatures.
I am thinking... WOW! What an amazing year it has been so far. Last year about this time I was hoping time would go by just a tad bit faster so that we could finally get to our wedding day. Time has flown by ever since. The last (almost) 11 months have gone by too quick. Be careful what you wish for…you just might get it.
I am thankful for... finding a renter for our rental property. I am thankful we did not have to bring home big, heavy furniture. Soon this will be running on auto pilot and no more late night adventures to the rental property!
From the kitchen... I am cooking again. I feel like I have been slacking in the kitchen. Today I cooked Pancake Breakfast to celebrate National Pancake Day (Who needs free pancakes at IHOP?) and pasta and chicken for hubby’s dinner. It is so nice to be back in the kitchen and cooking again.
I am wearing... house clothes. It is a stay-inside-and-catch-up-on-housework kind of day.
I am creating... I personally am not working on much, but my dear husband has been working on the landscaping the last couple of weeks. There has been much progress in the backyard and he is starting to work on the front yard, too. GREAT job hubby! I am so proud of you!
I am going... places. We are succeeding and going places. We are changing our family tree. Thank you Dave Ramsey for the motivation and encouragement.
I am reading... too many books at once. I have not made much progress on any of them.
I am hoping praying... for good health.
I am hearing... the washing machine and dryer…what else? My day to blog is also my day to catch up on laundry. Today it is the sheets and laundry we brought home from the rental property.
Around the house... we have boxes that need to be unpacked. I feel like we did when we first moved here. Who knew that there was that much small stuff at the rental property? There is plenty of work that needs to be done and not enough time to do it all.
One of my favorite things... naptime. But I never seem to get them.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Wednesday: More housework
Thursday: Seminar week #2
Friday: A visit from Mom and Dad
March Madness
Here is picture video for thought I am sharing...
In just a few days, this video has exploded on YouTube. So many have viewed, shared, and commented on it. The best part it is so true which makes it even funnier.
The Simple Woman's Daybook is a brief outline for women/mothers who blog to use as a way to compose thoughts, plan the week, and keep a grateful heart. It is typically published once a week on Tuesdays.
Outside my window... the stars are out and the moon is shining (or at least that is what I can assume considering the time of day)
I am thinking... tomorrow is brand new day. I can only do it one day at a time.
I am thankful for... friends who help you get through the tough days and who are always at the right place at the right time.
From the kitchen... I made two dinners. One dinner for tonight – pasta & veggies and another to get ahead for tomorrow night – Caribbean rice & chicken. The kitchen is only half-clean. I will have to finish the rest tomorrow.
I am wearing... shorts and a tee shirt. Only in Florida can you wear such an outfit while friends up north are still battling cold and snow.
I am creating... this blog to help remember the early days of our marriage. This blog keeps our family and friends up to date with the adventures of newlyweds. I pray that this blog inspires others to take the big plunge and experience marriage for themselves.
I am going... to bed soon. It is time to call it a day.
I am reading... too many books at once. I can barely keep up.
I am hoping praying... for my hubby to get home from work soon and for a good night’s rest.
I am hearing... the dryer. If I am writing this blog, then I MUST be doing laundry.
Around the house... there is still so much to be done. I am SO behind. Outside… the landscaping project has begun. It started in the backyard and it is making its way to the front yard. There are so many home projects yet to be started.
One of my favorite things... contemporary Christian music to keep me motivated and remind me how much God loves me.

Thursday: Week 1 of seminar
Friday: Adventures at the rental
Saturday: Catch up on chores
Sunday: Church

Outside my window... it is a surprisingly beautiful day! A perfect day to sit on the lanai and read a book.
I am thinking... today is a GREAT day to catch up on all my chores and reading.
I am thankful for... God’s graces and blessings that He showers upon us on a daily basis. There are so many things to be thankful for and I have to give the credit where the credit is due. All of it comes from God above. I would have none of these blessings if it were not for His love for us.
From the kitchen... I have been pretty consistent at keeping us within budget and keeping fed. Hubby cannot keep up his exercise regimen with me. This is an area I did not think I would find success in so quickly. I am doing well and so proud of myself.
I am wearing... my pajamas still. They are comfortable for getting the housework done. I will soon put on something comfortable to sit and read on the lanai. It would be such a shame to let the day go to waste.
I am creating...? Not much creating going on these last few weeks. I have been trying to manage my time to get things done. It looks like there might be some changes in the next few weeks.
I am We are going... to make it. Thanks Mike and Debbie for the extra encouragement. It has helped to push us to be MORE gazelle intense about our debt and finances. It helps to have extra support and encouragement to push us when we feel like times are rough.
I am reading... the same three books I have been reading for the last several weeks. I am adding one more since I am on team for the spiritual growth seminar at Church. I only have to read a few sections each week to be familiar with the program for the week. But it can take a lot of extra effort when you are already behind on reading.
I am hoping praying... for the success of our seminar starting next week and going through Lent. Lord open the hearts and minds of those attending and strengthen the team and leaders to stay focused on You. St. Michael the Archangel, Pray for us!
I am hearing... what else -- the washing machine. I guess I have time to blog on days when I am home doing chores such as laundry.
Around the house... I am trying to catch up on the house chores. I have been fighting off a cold and a lot of the housework has been put off. I am regaining strength to get back and finish my chores.
One of my favorite things... my husband and my Valentine Kris. I am happy we can laugh about that first Valentine’s Day when we met. I do not remember much of the details of that day except I was NOT attracted to him. It is funny that I can remember what he wore and what he ate but not who else was there or even what I ate for dinner that day.
You are and always be my Valentine!
Thank you my love for loving me. Here’s to another 10 years of friendship!
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Thursday: Information session for upcoming seminar
Friday: Visit in laws in St. Petersburg
Saturday: Relax with hubby
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
The continuing adventures of Gracie the cat. She is the best entertainment around here.
Look who has the entire bed to herself... And she's loving it!

Song: When You Say Nothing at All Artist: Alison Krauss Album: Now that I've Found You: A Collection Year: 1995
Lyrics:
It’s amazing how you can speak right to my heart Without saying a word you can light up the dark Try as I may I could never explain What I hear when you don’t say a thing
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall You say it best when you say nothing at all
All day long I can hear people talking out loud But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd Old mr. webster could never define What’s being said between your heart and mine
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall You say it best when you say nothing at all
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me There’s a truth in your eyes sayin’ you’ll never leave me The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall You say it best when you say nothing at all
The past, present and future help to create who we are today. The person we once were, the person that we are, and the person that we pray to be someday all influence us in some way, shape and form. They create who we are at any given moment in time. They affect the way we act, react and feel about everything. We take all that is good and all that bad from the past, present and future to mold us into better persons.
Sometimes the past, present, and future affect me in ways I am not able to handle. They attack me at the deepest levels. In those times, I am so blessed to have an amazing husband who loves me and comforts me. He holds me in a soft yet firm embrace that makes me know that I am safe and protected in his arms always. There is nowhere else I would rather be at that moment than right in his arms. He does not have to say anything. He just has to touch me and I am assured that everything will be okay.
Sometimes there are no words to be said. Sometimes no sounds needs to be made. Sometimes it is best when there is nothing at all.
Outside my window... it is a beautiful 69 degrees and my hubby is working out in the yard. I love a hard working man… especially MINE! It seems that the cold winter days have come and gone. We are heading into the cooler weather of winter in Florida that we all love so much.
I am thinking... of all the things I want to do today …a bike ride, read my book (finish last year’s book so I can start the reading list for 2011), clean the kitchen… So much to be done! There is always so much that I want to do but I never manage to get it all done. Well, there is always tomorrow!
I am thankful for... an amazing start to 2011. 2010 was surely a great year for both of us and I just know that 2011 is going to be much better. Every year has been better than the one before.
From the kitchen... chocolate chip pancakes were made although I am not too happy about the way they turned out so I do not think I will be making them again. Soon dinner for my husband to take to work – a ham and cheese melt – will be prepared.
I am wearing... my pajamas. I love to stay in my pajamas as long as I can. Comfortable clothes to get the housework done.
I am creating... ? There is nothing I am currently creating except for our scrapbook which is a LONG work in progress as it dates back to our early days together circa 2001 (I have the most difficulty writing something in this section as there does not seem to be much creating going on. I do enjoy scrapbooking but I rarely have a chance to get any of it done. I am not very artistic otherwise. I do not knit, crochet, or sew. My talents in this department are very limited.)
I am going... nowhere. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are usually the days I do not have much planned outside of the house. A great opportunity to catch up on housework that is left behind from the weekend.
I am (still) reading... last year’s book – House Rules. I hope to finish it today (or very soon) and start on one of the books on my 2011 reading list. I have not decided which one but I am leaning toward Financial Peace Revisited by Dave Ramsey.
I am hoping praying... for a healthy New Year. I hope that my hubby gets over this cough that seems to be lingering from his cold from a few weeks ago. I hope that we both remain healthy throughout the New Year and no more visits to the ER.
I am hearing... my hard working husband taking care of some yard work in the backyard. We are preparing for our Spring project to seed it and finally get some grass in the backyard. Perhaps we will plant a small garden as well.
Around the house... there are always a lot of little things that need to be done that add up one BIG thing. Just when I seem to get a few done, it starts all over again.
One of my favorite things...
“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things”
I love the music from the Sound of Music. Great to sing along to and cheer you up anytime you are feeling down.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Wednesday: Art Show
Thursday: Prayer group
Friday: NFP class
Saturday: Young Adults in Christ

Ate Sunshine (Kuya Jun Jun's wife) from Canada came to visit Mom and Dad for the holiday. They came one day to visit us in our home. We took them to the Ringling Museum in Sarasota. Here are a few pictures that Ate Sunshine shared with us.

This is one of my favorite pictures with Ate Sunshine.

We had a great time visiting with her and are happy that we could do our part to make her vacation here a little more fun.

Group: Third Day Album: Come Together Song: It's All Right Year: 2001
Lyrics:
Your letter said that you were leaving But you didn't know how long I have never stopped believing That one day you would return And though waiting is the hardest Part of everything I do I do confess it's getting better Knowing I will be with you
It's alright It's okay I won't worry about tomorrow For it brings me one more day Closer than I was to you
Now the question isn't "will you" What I want to know is "when" If it's one day or a million I will wait for you 'til then So I'm holding on to your words And the promises you've made There is not one you have broken There's not one I didn't take
Your letter said that you were leaving But you didn't know how long I will never stop believing I know one day you will return
This song is a song with so much hope. So much hope that tomorrow brings us closer together than we were the day before to the one that we love. I have said words like this before. I may have even heard words like this before. But I have never stopped believing that someday you would return to me. Here you are with me now and forever. Here you are to stay. This song gives me hope in tomorrow.
I am thankful each day for you and the tomorrows that we will share. I will strive not to worry about tomorrow. I will strive to remember and be thankful that we have more tomorrows ahead.
It's all right.
It's okay.
I won't worry about tomorrow.
For it brings me ONE MORE DAY
Closer than I was to you.
"So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." -- Matthew 6:34
Prayer at the beginning of the day
Thank you Lord for letting us see the rising sun and the start of a brand new day. Thank you for letting us wake up next to the one we love. Watch over us and protect us through the day. Give us the strength to make it through to the end of day.
Prayer at the end of the day
Thank you Lord for letting us see the end of another day. Thank you for giving us one more day with the one we love. Watch over us and protect us as we sleep. Give us a brand new day tomorrow.
