FOR TODAY

May 3, 2011

After a two week hiatus from blogging, I am back in the swing of things again.

Outside my window... the sun is getting ready to set. According to weather.com, we are expecting slightly cooler temperatures tonight (in the 70s) but it will be back up into the 80s by tomorrow afternoon.

I am thinking... I need a little motivation to get some housework done.

I am thankful for... weekends with family. It was a busy weekend with much to celebrate but we had so much fun. I think I am still recovering. We have more family time planned for the next few weekends. I just cannot get enough.

From the kitchen... deviled eggs are in the making. Yummy!

Post Easter Deviled Eggs

I am wearing... a fresh pair of pajamas.

I am creating... a journal of Eileen-isms – Your everyday cliches with a dash of Eileen’s thoughts and ideas. Maybe someday I will publish it.

I am going... to the dentist. Three dentist appointments in three weeks are NOT fun.

I am reading...
nothing even though I have not finished the books I have started earlier this year. There are MANY books on the list but I have only finished a couple. I need to have a week just so I can catch up on reading

I am hoping praying... a Rosary every day for the special intentions of my family and friends. I pray around midnight while Kris is driving home from work. He prays in the car while I pray at home. It is like we are praying together. It has helped have restful sleep.

I am hearing...
sacred silence. It is a good time to spend some time with God and sort out the thoughts in my head.

Sacred Silence by Tom Booth

Around the house... there are always chores that need to get done. Motivation where have you gone?

One of my favorite things... a hot, relaxing, long shower to ease aches and pains and help get your mind off the worries of today.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Wednesday: Dentist
Thursday: Prayer group
Friday: Family time

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Daybook

FOR TODAY

April 12, 2011

Outside my window... the sun has set and day has turned into night. It is a cool and cloudy night. There is a 30% chance of rain but there does not seem to be any in sight. Temperature is slowly rising. It looks like it is going to be another hot week ahead.

I am thinking... that tomorrow I will catch up on everything I have put off for the last week.

I am thankful for... the joys that marriage brings. The good and fun times always outweigh the bad and rough times. Both are necessary to help you appreciate the other.

From the kitchen... hubby was able to find a place for the extra mugs and dishes. They are not in their final spot but at least there seems to be a little less clutter. Now to finish the rest of the chores that still need to be done…

I am wearing... a fresh pair of pajamas as I get ready to wind down for the night and wait for hubby to come home.

I am creating… nothing now that my anniversary gift is done. I hope to get back to working on our scrapbook soon.

I am going... finish the last of my chores for the day and start to wind down for the night. It is going to be a LONG day tomorrow.

I am reading... the same book for the last 3 months. Financial Peace University is ending soon and I am still NOT done with Financial Peace Revisited. My books of interest seem to be growing. I added unPlanned by Abby Johnson. I have found inspiration from her story.

unPlanned by Abby Johnson with Cindy Lambert

I am hoping praying... for all the unborn babies.

I am hearing... Gracie meowing as she parades her favorite mouse around the house.

Around the house...
my most dreaded chore awaits – ironing. I have put it off way too long and now all my hubby’s work shirts await ironing.

One of my favorite things... romantic piano music especially Jim Brickman.

Never Alone – Jim Brickman featuring Hillary Scott & Lady Antebellum

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Thursday: Post-seminar What Next? by Jim Wicksall
Friday/Saturday: St. Pete
Monday: Bonus lesson of FPU (The Great Misunderstanding)

Daybook

FOR TODAY

April 6, 2011

Outside my window... it is a beautiful sunny 77 degrees. It is a perfect day for a bike ride and some fresh air.

I am thinking... about using flylady.net to get motivated to keep up with my daily/weekly chores.

I am thankful for... friends who are also great prayer warriors. Not only do they keep us in their daily prayers but also our friends and family who are facing difficult times and in need of extra prayers.

From the kitchen...
half a party pizza is warming in the toaster oven and a half-pound of ground beef is defrosting.

I am wearing... the same pajamas for the last couple of days. It is time to get out and enjoy the day.

I am creating... a paper first anniversary gift. I have been working on it in secret. Hubby has no idea what it is.

I am going...
to treat myself to a milkshake from McDonald’s. I want a shamrock shake if they still have them.

I am STILL reading... Financial Peace Revisited. I am struggling with my book a month goal. I have to find a day where I can just sit and read.

I am hoping praying...
for Nancy and Joan.

Rest in peace Carl. You lived a long and blessed life. Our lives are enriched because we knew you. Eternal rest grant unto Carl and may perpetual light sine upon him. May Carl and the souls of all the faithfully departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.

I am hearing... DING! -- the sound of the toaster oven. Pizza is warm. Yummy!

Around the house... it is calm and quiet. There are a few small chores that need to be done but overall it is rather peaceful.

One of my favorite things... getting to talk with family on Skype. My 3-year-old niece sang nursery rhymes to me. She even asked my sister to call back after we hung up just to show me her new “glasses.”

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Thursday: Semniar Week #7
Friday: Orlando
Saturday: Easter Egg Hunt with Young Adults in Christ
Sunday: Our first anniversary

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

FOR TODAY

Last Daybook for March 2011

Outside my window... it is raining VERY hard. We have had severe weather here for the last couple of days. Rain, thunder and lightning, tornadoes… We needed the rain but I do not like the severe weather conditions that come with it.

Severe weather images

Severe weather in Florida

I am thinking... it would be nice to spend all day sleeping. All Gracie ever does all day is try to find a better spot to nap. What a tough life!

It is so hard to find a place to nap
It is a tough life being a cat
Please!! Can a cat just nap in peace??

I am thankful for... a husband to keep me safe during severe weather. The other night the thunder and lightning was so bad. It scared me in my sleep. My dear husband just held me tighter and assured me I would be okay. I went back to sleep safe in his arms.

From the kitchen... I baked banana bread from scratch. Okay, so it was not made fresh today… but I have been busy watching the severe weather.

Banana bread from scratch

I am wearing... my pajamas and thinking it would be nice to crawl under the covers and hide from the thunder and lightning.

I am creating... a first anniversary paper gift. Oh the memories we have had…

I am going... with Terry and Julie to our seminar this week. I hate driving in severe weather and I am so glad that they are willing to give me a ride. The car rides with them are so much fun!

I am reading... Financial Peace Revisited (still) but Terry and Julie gave me The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. I am going to have to add it to my reading list. Thanks Terry and Julie for a great first anniversary gift!

The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman

I am hoping praying... safety for everyone in this severe weather all over the central Florida area.

A truck overturned on I-75
A damaged plane
There was significant damage at Sun-n-Fun

I am hearing... heavy rain and thunder in the distance.

Around the house... I am all caught up on my cleaning. I finally was able to get the clutter cleared and organized. Next week it will all start again.

One of my favorite things... cuddling with my husband and Gracie. They make me feel safe and warm. I love it when our family is together. There is nothing like quality time with family.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Tonight: Seminar Week #6
Friday: Visit family
Saturday: Hubby working OT and some “Me time”

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

All aboard…

Daybook

FOR TODAY

March 23, 2011

Outside my window... a beautiful sunny 74 degrees outside. It is a perfect day for a bike ride after I accomplish a few chores inside.

I am thinking... how fast time flies when you are having fun. This time last year I just could not wait for our wedding. Now our first anniversary is a little more than 2 weeks away. What a year we have had!

I am thankful for... great friends -- Terry and Julie. God has put people in my life at the right time. It was not any different with Terry and Julie. We have shared many experiences. They have inspired me to better. They have become more than friends. I pray that when we have been married forty years, we can be just like them.

From the kitchen...
I made easy meals today and I am catching up on some cleaning that I have been putting off for sometime.

I am wearing...
comfortable clothes to get some house chores done.

I am creating going to create... a first anniversary gift for my wonderful husband. Gifts are more special when you make them yourself. I need some new ideas for first anniversary gifts though.

I am going... to get all these chores done sooner or later. Probably more later than sooner. There is much to be done. I am happy to be making progress.

I am reading... Financial Peace Revisited by Dave Ramsey. I am so behind on reading. I need a day or two just to catch up.

I am hoping praying... my brother-in-law and his wife and their little bun in the oven. We are going to be aunt and uncle again for the ninth time. I am excited for a new little K.

I am hearing... contemporary Christian music channel on the digital music channel while getting some cleaning done.

Around the house... I am getting caught up on some neglected house chores. I have put off a few chores and I am paying the price.

One of my favorite things... is reminiscing about our wedding day. Our FIRST anniversary is coming up and I have been looking at the pictures from our wedding. Great memories!

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Thursday Seminar Week #5
Weekend More family time
Next week: More chores & Coffee Talk with Terry & Julie

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Pictures taken from our engagement shoot two weeks before the wedding

Try a little tenderness...

He's so gentle
His kisses are soft and tender
There is tenderness in his eyes
He holds on tightly
He never lets go
His love is so genuine and sincere
He catches me when I fall

I am captured by you.

Daybook

FOR TODAY

March 16, 2011

Outside my window... it is a beautiful sunny day with temps in the 70s. It is a perfect day for a bike ride or a long stroll through the neighborhood. It looks like that is not happening here. I am inside with a sore back. I am so sad to be missing out on such a beautiful day.

I am thinking... about a nice hot bath to ease the tension and pain in my lower back.

I am thankful for… a brand new day. Everyday I can see the sun has risen and the moon at night. I give thanks to God for each day that I am alive.

From the kitchen... I am planning simple meals. I need meals that do not take much preparation and/or work to cook. I need to rest my back so I can do more yard work again tomorrow.

I am wearing...
my pajamas. I am too sore to think about getting out of them.

I am creating... an SFC Facebook event -- SportsFest 2011. It is too bad I will not be able to attend. I miss my SFC family.

I am going... to win with money. Thanks to Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University program. I finally have a peace that I never thought I would have (See previous post) We are on way to changing our family tree.

I am reading... Financial Peace Revisited. I need to focus on one book at a time. I am not making any progress on my book a month goal for this year.

I am hoping praying... for anyone who has been affected by cancer. For those who continue to fight, keep up the good fight. You are winning! For those who have fought and won, all praise, honor, and glory to God! For those who have lost friends and loved ones, you have fought the good fight and there is finally peace and rest. May their souls and the souls of the faithfully departed rest in peace.

Prayers continued for all those who have been affected by the earthquake in Japan.

I am hearing...
silence (I am all caught up early on laundry this week!)

Around the house... there are more chores to be done but they will have to wait.

My favorite things... my hubby and Gracie. I caught him napping on the couch on Sunday and Gracie was sitting in his lap keeping him company. It was such a sweet sight to see. I just could not disturb them.

These are two of my favorite things...

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Thursday: Seminar Week #4
Friday: Date night with my hubby
Saturday: Time for some ME time
Sunday: Family time

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Daybook

FOR TODAY

March 8, 2011

Outside my window... it is a very hot 80 degrees. Spring has come early. It is a gorgeous day outside.

I am thinking... too many things at once. I cannot even narrow it down to just one thought. We have so many things going on right now in so many different areas of our lives. I am waiting for things to iron themselves out and things to start flowing smoothly.

I am thankful for...
the most wonderful husband. I am so blessed to have a husband who has a heart for God first and then his family. I knew I have always loved him but I have never loved this much. I grow more and more in love with him each day.

From the kitchen... I am planning meatless meals to get through Lent. My hubby is abstaining throughout all of the Lenten season this year.

I am wearing...
house clothes because it is a doing-all-the-house-chores kind of day.

I am creating... the March meal menu. It is going to take a lot more planning to keep up with no meat throughout all of Lent.

I am going... to the grocery store. I am stocking up and getting ahead for Lent.

I am reading...
Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace Revisited and The Authentic Catholic Woman. I am trying to get caught up on my book-a-month goal so I have decided to focus on these two books.

I am hoping praying...
Novena to St. Gerard. I am remembering and praying the words of Mary to the angel Gabriel: “I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to your word.” It is the encouragement I need to accept the plan that God has for us but most especially His timing.

I am hearing... The Dave Ramsey Show live on the Internet and of course the dryer.

Around the house... I am busy trying to catch up on chores that still need to be done. The chores have seemed to get ahead of me in this game of house.

One of my favorite things... fun times with my nieces and nephews. I spent the weekend visiting with my sister and got to have some great quality time with my almost 11-year-old nephew and almost 6-year-old niece. I am looking for ward to this weekend when we both can spend time with the kids.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Wednesday: Ash Wednesday Mass
Thursday: Seminar week #3
The weekend: More quality family time

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Daybook

FOR TODAY

For March 1, 2011

Outside my window... it appears to be very cloudy. We are expecting some showers but so far I have not seen any. I am welcoming spring and the nice cool weather. I am not looking forward to the heat and extreme temperatures.

I am thinking... WOW! What an amazing year it has been so far. Last year about this time I was hoping time would go by just a tad bit faster so that we could finally get to our wedding day. Time has flown by ever since. The last (almost) 11 months have gone by too quick. Be careful what you wish for…you just might get it.

I am thankful for... finding a renter for our rental property. I am thankful we did not have to bring home big, heavy furniture. Soon this will be running on auto pilot and no more late night adventures to the rental property!

From the kitchen... I am cooking again. I feel like I have been slacking in the kitchen. Today I cooked Pancake Breakfast to celebrate National Pancake Day (Who needs free pancakes at IHOP?) and pasta and chicken for hubby’s dinner. It is so nice to be back in the kitchen and cooking again.

I am wearing... house clothes. It is a stay-inside-and-catch-up-on-housework kind of day.

I am creating... I personally am not working on much, but my dear husband has been working on the landscaping the last couple of weeks. There has been much progress in the backyard and he is starting to work on the front yard, too. GREAT job hubby! I am so proud of you!

I am going... places. We are succeeding and going places. We are changing our family tree. Thank you Dave Ramsey for the motivation and encouragement.

I am reading... too many books at once. I have not made much progress on any of them.

I am hoping praying... for good health.

I am hearing... the washing machine and dryer…what else? My day to blog is also my day to catch up on laundry. Today it is the sheets and laundry we brought home from the rental property.

Around the house... we have boxes that need to be unpacked. I feel like we did when we first moved here. Who knew that there was that much small stuff at the rental property? There is plenty of work that needs to be done and not enough time to do it all.

One of my favorite things... naptime. But I never seem to get them.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Wednesday: More housework
Thursday: Seminar week #2
Friday: A visit from Mom and Dad
March Madness

Here is picture video for thought I am sharing...

Daybook

FOR TODAY

Outside my window... the stars are out and the moon is shining (or at least that is what I can assume considering the time of day)

I am thinking... tomorrow is brand new day. I can only do it one day at a time.

I am thankful for... friends who help you get through the tough days and who are always at the right place at the right time.

From the kitchen...
I made two dinners. One dinner for tonight – pasta & veggies and another to get ahead for tomorrow night – Caribbean rice & chicken. The kitchen is only half-clean. I will have to finish the rest tomorrow.

I am wearing... shorts and a tee shirt. Only in Florida can you wear such an outfit while friends up north are still battling cold and snow.

I am creating...
this blog to help remember the early days of our marriage. This blog keeps our family and friends up to date with the adventures of newlyweds. I pray that this blog inspires others to take the big plunge and experience marriage for themselves.

I am going...
to bed soon. It is time to call it a day.

I am reading...
too many books at once. I can barely keep up.

I am hoping praying...
for my hubby to get home from work soon and for a good night’s rest.

I am hearing...
the dryer. If I am writing this blog, then I MUST be doing laundry.

Around the house...
there is still so much to be done. I am SO behind.  Outside… the landscaping project has begun. It started in the backyard and it is making its way to the front yard. There are so many home projects yet to be started.

One of my favorite things... contemporary Christian music to keep me motivated and remind me how much God loves me.

Who am I by Casting Crowns
What Faith can Do by Kutless

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Thursday: Week 1 of seminar
Friday: Adventures at the rental
Saturday: Catch up on chores
Sunday: Church
